Senior Database Administrator

Overview:

As a Senior Database Administrator at Digital Turbine, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our database infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our database systems, with a primary focus on Postgres and MySQL databases hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will work closely with our data engineering and DevOps teams to design, implement, and maintain database solutions that meet our business needs.

• Manage and administer Postgres and MySQL databases on Google Cloud Platform.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
• Ensure data security and compliance with industry best practices.
• Troubleshoot database issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with developers to design and implement database schemas.
• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery plans.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practices.
• Provide on-call support for critical database issues, as needed.

• 5+ years of relevant database administration experience.
• Strong experience managing Postgres and MySQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud services, particularly Google Cloud SQL or AWS RDS services.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with database automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with migration based tools such as Flyway
• Knowledge and experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Databricks
